Final home game of the season

Today sees Colne making the trip to Surrey Street for the last home game of the season for the Hillmen.
We welcome the Colne F.C players, officials and fans that travel to follow their team to GNE today.
GNE will be hoping to bring the curtain down on their season with 3 points at home today and look to finish the season of with a couple of wins starting with today's game and the remaining fixture at Barnoldswick on Tuesday May 1st.
It looks like GNE will finish in 6th place in the league which is an improvement from last season's 14th and so i see it as a good stride forward and couple that with the improvements off the field and it has been a hugely satisfying season to be around Glossop North End.
The team has played some excellent football and were very serious contenders for the top spot right upto the last month or so of the season when results have dropped off.
Many people will have their opinion as to what has happened in the last month and why we have dropped points, my view is that the lads who turn out for GNE work jobs throughout the week and then try and play games at weekends and mid-week, this is somethng that must take its toll on you at some stage and it is my belief that the team were simply running out of steam.
We here the full time well paid pampered pro's complaining about the number of games they are expected to play and that player need a rest and this is seen as acceptable reasoning but when people say that our lads are exhausted it is difficult for some to accept.
May i take this opportunity to thank the coaching staff of both the first and reserve team's for the work done this season, also to every player who has pulled on a GNE shirt again both first and reserve teams a huge thank you for your effort and commitment to turn out week in and week out and keep us supporters entertained with some excellent football.
A special thanks to Trucca, Gareth and Woodsy for the fantastic work done with the youth set up and then the reserves, you can be very proud of the players you have developed in your time at GNE and good luck in what ever you all choose to do in the future.
Finally thank you to everyone who works around the ground,Rhona and Shifty and anyone else who helps in the bar,Wendy and Catherine for the legendary Piehut,Ballboys and of course the ground staff for producing a great surface to perform on.
Dont forget the presentation,s will take place after today's game then following on will be an end of season party, hope to see you all there.

Today's visitors are St.Helens Town who come to Surrey Street to face a GNE side who are struggling to find a win.
Today is a day when everyone needs to pull together and do what ever we can to give the lads the confidence to go and express themselves and hopefully claim 3 points.
We as a club now need to stand up and prove our worth and show people we are a decent outfit and that we are as good as our earlier league position suggested.
I hold my hands up and will say i as many others did not clap the lads off on Wednesday and for what its worth iam not impressed with my behaviour on 2 counts.
Firstly our lads try their best and sometimes it just does not work out for reasons no one knows, secondly Bacup Borough came to our place and earned a very creditable victory and we should have at least given them the respect they deserved and i for one appologise to our lads and everyone at Bacup for not applauding at the end of the game.
Top 4 is still achievable and would give us the benefit of going straight into the first round propar of the F.A.Vase so we still have something to push for,it will be difficult but we have enough about us as a club to get there.
I hope to see as many of you at the game today and hope we can play our part in getting 3 points.
Good luck to Trucca and the lads in the reserves who travel to Maine Road today.
