Bad day at the office
GNE started the game well and were justifiably in front at half time but as the week before we didn't seem to carry on the momentum after the interval
Fair play to Runcorn who did the exact opposite, they didn't start well but came out for the second half looking like a different team.
GNE are out of every cup competition and must now concentrate only on our league campaign to hopefully close the season out finishing as high up the league as possible.
Being out of every cup is not a good feeling but we have faired better this season in the league, making the best start in recent memory which is something to be positive about. This must be viewed as an improvement and something to build on for next season.
This Saturday gives GNE the chance to gain revenge as we travel to Runcorn Town in the league.
Good luck to the lads.

F.A Vase draw
Billingham are based in Cleveland which is near Middlesbrough.
They play in the STL Northern League Division 1 and sit 17th in the league, they are on a decent run winning their last 3 games 2 at home and 1 away.
They play in the same league as our North East foes Whitley Bay.
The Supporters Club will be running a coach to this game and the cost will be £10 a seat and we ask anyone wishing to reserve a seat on this coach do so on the clubs message board under the heading Coach travel to Billingham Town.
We would ask anyone reserving a seat/seats on the coach pay for them by the 12th November please.
we will be up against it so It would be nice to take a healthy following up there to support the lads and hopefully cheer them on to a good result.
So dont miss out on this good away day and get your seat booked early to avoid any disappointment.

F.A Vase is back at Surrey Street
May i take this opportunity to welcome the players, officials and supporters of Blidworth Welfare FC to Glossop North End.
Todays match is the 1st round of the Vase and hopefully GNE can get the win and send themselves into the next round and as we have seen who knows.
Blidworth Welfare are a team in transition with their manager leaving at the end of last season and taking a number of their players.
Blidworth are rebuilding a squad and are enduring mixed results in there league campaign but will be coming to GNE with nothing to lose.
GNE and the GNE faithfull will of course give them the utmost respect and they will recieve the customary good welcome travelling teams and supporters get when visiting us.
Hope to see a good crowd today and lets make some noise to encourage our lads.
Good luck to the team.

Back down to earth
Bootle to be fair did try and get the ball down and played some decent football especially for their goal which was a well worked move resulting in a good headed goal which proved to be enough for our guests to take all 3 points.
GNE played a lot of long balls to Sam up front which didn't work as everytime he managed to get on the end of the pass he was isolated and could not keep the ball long enough for any support which seemed to take an age arriving.
Bootle deserved their win and GNE need to dust themselves down and prepare for a busy week ahead.
New Mills will be the visitors during the week in the Manchester cup so it will be interesting to see what the coaching team do with regards team selection for this one as we have the F.A Vase game at the weekend.
Hope to see good crowds for these games and good luck to GNE

Another great win
GNE now find themselves fourth in the league 3 points behind league leaders Flixton who are our next apponents on Wednesday night.
We are playing well and scoring goals for fun with 10 in our last 2 matches but something that should not be overlooked is our defending which is providing the platform for the team to go forward and express ourselves in more offensive area's.
I try not to single out individuals but feel i should mention Alex Elliot who is showing people just what he is capable of and is for me playing some fine football.
Some of our football is so pleasing on the eye and the squad is looking very fit and we have a great team spirit which is something any team needs to progress.
Congratulations to all.

Meet the manager update
The session was in my opinion a big positive for us the supporters and i think the management would say it was a positive for them also.
It was great to see Trucca and Gareth at the session and good to hear from both the first and reserve managemant teams.
Also it was good to see some of the directors and our chairman who it must be said had a few questions of his own.
I wont go into detail about what was said because Mark Allen (S/C secretary) will be doing a news letter and that will contain items from tonight.
I think the main thing is everyone has a passion to take the club forward both on and off the pitch and they are all working hard to try and achieve that.
We have made a good start to our season and one thing Paul Williams stressed is we need to get consistency and he thinks tomorrow nights game is an ideal opportunity first to get back to back wins which it is hoped would bring more consistency.
Again i would like to thank both the management teams, directors and our chairman for giving us the opportunity and the supporters who came and hopefully thoroughly enjoyed the meeting

Away at Colne F.C
Colne sit in 8th place in the league with 15 points from 9 games.
Hopefully after no mid week game GNE are refreshed and any niggling injuriess have cleared.
Good luck to the lads.
If your not travelling to see the first team and need your regular fix of football our reserves are at home today whereTrucca's charges will be entertaining Daisy Hill reserves and looking to gain a positive result.
If you needed anymore encouragement to go and watch the reserves it is free entry and they have there own band of magnificent volunteers who will be more than happy to keep you fed and watered while you enjoy your football so give it a go and cheer the lads on.
Good luck to Trucca and the team.

Meet the manager
This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone who is a supporter (not just members) to come along and spend time and get to know Paul Colgan and his assistant Paul Williams.
This idea is designed to give you the supporter a chance to ask the men in charge of our team anything you like and to give the coaching staff the chance to get a feel for what we think, what our aspirations are and how we feel things are progressing.
I think this is an excellent gesture from our manager and his asistant to offer to come in their spare time to attend this session and give us the chance to meet them in person and to allow us the chance to get the answers to any questions we have, so lets not waste it.
Being a member of the ground staff i know they are both very pleasant and approachable and are willing to speak to anyone after the games, this is a great opportunity for all concerned and i strongly recommend everyone able to attend to come down.
This meeting will take place in our clubhouse on Monday 19th September starting at 19.00.
May i take this opportunity to thank Paul Colgan and Paul Williams on behalf of everyone who turns up for giving us their time.

Good luck to the team and hope the supporters have a good day out.
After this GNE have a number of home games one of which is in the famous F.A.Cup so we hope to see as many people coming to enjoy the games and hopefully see GNE do well in all the matches.
Again there will be members of the supporters club on hand at the games for anyone interested in joining up and getting involved or for people who wish to sign up someone they think would like to be a part of this excellent organisation which aims to benefit the many supporters of GNE aswell as the club it self.

Here we go
Today we welcome Squires Gate to Surey Street in our opening game of the new league campaign.
Looking forward to the game and hope to see a big crowd who will hopefully seee GNE get off to a winning start.
Teams visiting us this season will be in for a shock with our new facilities which i personally think look fantastic,.
The new clubhouse is a place fit to grace any ground at our level and the new pie emporium is a wonder to behold.Thank you and good luck to all the people who dedicate a lot of time to make sure us mere mortals have the best time possible while visiting Surrey Street.
Its a difficult start in our opening fixtures but what would we give for a good start.
Come on GNE.

GNE v Hyde
May be the four games in a week caught up with the players of GNE who looked at least a yard off the pace of our guests.
Hyde played some quality football and used the full width of the pitch.
They moved the ball quickly and the man on the ball had plenty of options as the movement from the other players was excellent causing GNE all sorts of problems.
GNE worked hard and did play some nice stuff at times but never really created to many chances.
Paul took the opportunity to give plenty of the lads a run out and made a lot of changes during the game, he also gave a number of the players a rest possibly with Wednesdays game at Buxton in the back of his mind.
I must say there was another healthy crowd at the game and i hope that continues into the new season.
We now prepare for Wednesdays game at the Silverlands where we will play Buxton in the final of the Highpeak Cup before embarking on our league campaign next Saturday 6th August with a home game against Squires Gate.
Wednesday, 27 July 2011
Highpeak Cup
We got a stone wall penalty which Oaksey finished well.
After that we were in control and i have to say New Mills got rattled and lost all shape and confidence througout the team.
We attacked them constantly once level and got our rewards with a further 2 goals to run out 3-1 winners.
As the famous saying goes it was a game of 2 halves.
Sunday, 24 July 2011
First friendly
Our improved facilities seemed to go down well with the supporters and the pie emporium looked busy throughout.
The result was not good but we can take some positives from our display.
In the first half i thought GNE played some really good football and at the very least matched our opponents.
We conceded some sloppy goals in the first half and it was these that gave the scoreline an inflated margin.
Curzon were the better team and i must say played some excellent stuff and scored a couple of belters, but we did very well in patches.
We must remember this is our first competative pre season game and at times it showed, never the less a good work out against a very decent side which had a familiar face in their defence, excellent to see Dave Young back at Surrey Street and getting a good reception.
Good luck Dave for the coming season.
I would also like to mention the crowd an excellent turn out for a friendly and a number many teams can only dream of.
Tuesday has the Millers coming to town in the High Peak cup so come on down to Surrey Street and watch this local derby.

Pre-Season Matches
The football season has finished - except for some International matches - which leads us to think where the next match we can go and watch is coming from. With the work going on at the ground and the appointment of a new First Team manager we are probably a little bit later than normal in organising the pre-season matches. However, this is what we have at the moment.
Saturday July 23rd - Home vs. Curzon Ashton - kick off 3.00 pm
Tuesday July 26th - Home vs. New Mills (High Peak Cup) - kick off 7.45 pm
Saturday July 30th - Home vs. Hyde FC - kick off 3.00 pm
This will be all of the home pre-season matches for this summer. Should we beat New Mills in the High Peak Cup we will go into the final which will be played on Wednesday August 3rd - venue to be confirmed.
We now have an away pre-season match. This will be at Wythenshawe Town on Tuesday 2nd August with a 7.00 pm kick off.
The NWCFL season starts on Saturday 6th August and fixture details will be posted as soon as we know.

New Manager for GNE
Glossop North End can announce that they have appointed Paul Colgan as their new first team manager. The selection process has taken place over the last two weeks, and the board of Directors selected Colgan at a meeting on Sunday evening.
About Paul Colgan
Manchester based Paul Colgan has been coaching for 18 years, since his own playing career was brought to a premature end at the age of 23 due to a leg injury. He started out coaching in youth leagues and subsequently coached at a higher level year upon year, until taking charge of Atherton LR 1st team in 2005/06. Since then he has gone on to manage Hyde United’s reserve team (2006 to 2009) and Curzon Ashton’s reserve team (until 2010). Last season he took over as manager at Rossendale United, but ended up taking on many roles at the club in addition as the entire support staff of the club walked out in December 2010. It wasn’t until February 2011, when a game had to be postponed because the ground’s utilities had been cut off that he felt his position was untenable. He won many plaudits from Rossendale people for his attitude and coaching of a young team, and for his resilience in the face of what was widely acknowledged to be an almost impossible working environment at Rossendale last season.
Paul will bring with him his coaching team of Paul Williams as Assistant manager and Darren Green as coach. He has already obtained some of his UEFA coaching badges and is working on the next level.
Quotes from Paul Colgan
I’d like to thank the directors for giving me the opportunity to manage Glossop North End. I’m really looking forward to working closely with everybody at the club to maintain and hopefully build on the solid foundation that’s been established by the directors, previous management team, and the squad.
Whilst it’s inevitable that players will move on, I will be looking to retain the existing squad, but will also take the opportunity to freshen up the club with a few new players. The club has a terrific ground with a good pitch, excellent and improving facilities, a thriving reserve and great youth system -everything that's required to provide a platform for good footballers to develop further, enjoy their football and take this club to the next level.Paul, Darren and I will bring a wealth of experience and we are confident that we will deliver quality football for Glossop supporters, but we also want our squad to play with a smile on their face. We’ve heard that the club’s fans not only set out to enjoy their football, but help the team to enjoy theirs too, and I am looking forward to joining with them to ensure that this remains a club to be proud of, and a winning one at that.
Quotes from Glossop North End Chairman Dave Atkinson
We are delighted to appoint Paul to our First Team Manager’s position and welcome him to the club. We were really impressed with his enthusiasm for the position and with him having experience of managing at this level of football should ensure a smooth transition. Paul also has good experience of working with young players which I think makes him the perfect fit to the club’s existing structure, as we try to use our reserve side and our links with Glossop North End juniors to provide Glossop lads the chance to play for their local side.
The decision was an incredibly difficult one for the board of Directors to make, as we had applications from some very impressive candidates.
However, in particular the Directors would like to express their gratitude to Terry Hincks for his contribution over the last four years and particularly for the professional approach shown over the last quarter of the season in his role of Caretaker Manager following the departure of Steve Young. Terry and Steve were instrumental in the progress of Glossop North End, and the club, and I’m sure its supporters, would like to wish them both all the very best for the future.
The future for Glossop North End though is with Paul Colgan, and I very much look forward to working with him and developing this club further as we celebrate our 125th anniversary.

Football Fantime Interviews - Hincks & Trucca
Terry Hincks
Anthony Trucca
Will He or Won't He?
The Hillmen extended their eye-catching record under Hincks by collecting four league points over Easter.
Those came with a 2-1 victory over Winsford followed by a 1-1 draw with champions New Mills.
Glossop have now lost just twice in nine games since Hincks agreed to hold the fort in the wake of Young’s exit.
Hincks says only when the season is over will he decide whether or not he wants to be considered a candidate for a vacancy which Glossop have advertised.
Closing date for applications, which should include a CV, is a week today.
Hincks said: "I’m taking things game by game and haven’t really taken time to think about what my long-term future might be.
"As soon as we’ve played our final game, and, hopefully, that won’t be on Monday, I’ll sit down and assess the situation."

New 2011/12 Home Kit Launch
To commemorate Glossop North Ends 125th anniversary, next seasons home kit will be based on the kit worn by GNE in the First Division Season (1899/1900) - Black & White shirts with Black Shorts and Black socks.
The kit will be used for one season only prior to the club reverting back to their 'usual' colours of Blue and White.
If final approval can be reached in time the first "run out" for this kit will be at the League Cup Quarter Final match at home to New Mills on Monday.
Supporters replica shirts, in materials similar to those used in the late Victorian era, will be available in mid-May and can be ordered from the pie hut - orders can be taken at the match on Monday.
Details of souvenir merchandise celebrating Glossop North Ends 125th Anniversary will be announced in the coming weeks.

Vodkat League Challenge Cup
Further information on the Vodakat League Cup for this season.
Vodkat League Cup Semi Finals
Glossop North End or New Mills v Wigan Robin Park or Atherton LR or Runcorn Town.
NOTE. If Glossop reach the semi final the tie will be reversed as their ground is not available after May 3rd.
Formby or Winsford United v AFC Blackpool or Irlam.
Ties to be played on Saturday 7th May Kick Off 3pm.
All to play for in this competition. It is unfortunate that should we beat New Mills on May 2nd then we will have to cede home advantage for the semi final. As most will know, this is due to the work on the new changing rooms/clubhouse which we really must start on May 3rd in order to be sure that everything will be completed in time for next season.
Reserves Division Cup Final
This is the day after the first team match away at New Mills on Easter Monday and the day before the first team match at home to Colne.
This could well be a pivotal week in the fortunes of our Reserves this season as they play Padiham Reserves in a top-of-the-table league match on Saturday 30th April.
Your support for our excellent Reserves side would be appreciated.
