Nelson FC to fold

Unconfirmed reports suggest that Nelson FC are in difficulties and may be about to fold.

The club were put up for sale by owner, and former Chairman, Alan Pickering on June 16th but have not had any interest to date.

And messages on the Nelson website suggest things may be about to get worse.

Hopefully thay can sort out whatever mess they are in. However, with the new season just over 3 weeks away, having no manager, no players and no friendlies arranged does not look good.

Nelson FC have today resigned from the Vodkat League.

Following the news of Nelson's resignation, the League's Emergency Committee has met to discuss the constitution of the League for season 2010-11.

The Committee has decided that Ashton Athletic will retain their place in the Premier Division, to maintain the full complement of 22 clubs in the division.

This decision is subject to ratification by the League Management Committee, whose next meeting is on Wednesday 21st July 2010.

  1. It would be a pity if Nelson went out of business. It is a friendly enough place and the architetural history represented by Holme Terrace is worth the trip alone
