Another frustrating afternoon in Merseyside.
A very comfortable 1st half that GNE dominated from the start - Oakes curled in a free kick after 20 minutes, Kharas had a goal dissallowed for offside (he wasn't) and there were plenty of half chances. Then, right on the stroke of half time Lugsden scored an og and the teams went into half time all square.
The 2nd half was the complete opposite of the 1st - Formby had most of the possession and the majority of chances and in the end GNE were lucky to come away with a point.
On a shocking pitch we did great for 44 minutes. We never put a foot wrong at the back, midfield looked interested (especially Paul Ennis who showed some great touches) and Formbys defenders struggled to cope with Hurst and Kharas up top. Then Kelvin sticks one in his own net and the game gets turned on its head. How does that work? Is confidence that low that even when you give a team as poor as Formby a goal you panic?
ReplyDeleteThe 2nd half was dire. The new look defence did ok but they got no help from the midfield who went awol for the 2nd time in a week.
Wonder what Ennis thought about the playing surface!
Probably have played better with a beach ball!
