GNE 5 St Helens 2
A Dave Young hat trick (!) and one each from Darren Hamilton and Andy Hurst comfortably saw off a strangely subdued Saints team.
Has anyone seen a stranger hat trick than that? The 1st was an attempted cross the keeper lost in the sun which ended up in the top corner. The 2nd was, well, an attempted cross the keeper lost in the sun which ended up in the top corner. Disappointingly, the 3rd was just a plain old penalty.
And just to round things off New Mills got knocked out of the Vase. La vie est belle as they say across the water..

ReplyDeleteIf I ever get so bitter and one eyed, somebody tap me on the shoulder and have a word. The whole ethos of football at this level is respect...St Helens blogster is distinctly lacking
You'd have though he'd have given us a little more respect seeing as how we've stuck 10 past them in 2 games!
